About Greenline
What is Greenline?
Who is Greenline for?
What brokerages does Greenline work with?
Can I share my account with my partner or spouse?
How often do you add new features?
Is Greenline a Canadian company?
Yes. Greenline Platforms Inc. is a federally incorporated Canadian company headquartered in Toronto, Ontario.
Is Greenline open source?
No. Greenline is a closed-source SaaS product, but we publish documentation and design decisions openly. Reach out if you'd like to discuss specific technical details.
How it works
What can I do with Greenline?
- See all your accounts and assets in one place
- Track investment performance over time
- Visualize your diversification by asset class, sector, and geography
- Monitor your net worth and track progress
- Spot patterns like overexposure to a single sector or asset type
- Import data via spreadsheets, PDFs, screenshots, or manual entry
Does Greenline tell me what to buy or sell?
No. Greenline may highlight patterns or surface things to think about, like "you may be heavily concentrated in tech," but it doesn't tell you what to buy, sell, or hold.
Greenline is not a registered advisor under Canadian securities legislation and does not make investment recommendations.
Why doesn't Greenline connect to my bank or brokerage?
Sharing your credentials with third-party apps can break your account agreement and may affect your fraud protection. Bank connectors also break constantly and can misread your portfolio. Greenline uses secure file uploads instead, giving you accurate insights without risking your accounts.
You stay in control. Upload PDFs, spreadsheets, or screenshots on your schedule, and your bank guarantees stay intact.
This isn't a permanent stance. When the infrastructure matures and auto-sync can work safely, we'll revisit. Read the full argument →

How do I add my data?
What accounts can I track?
How do I track investments across multiple brokerages?
Can I import my portfolio from a spreadsheet?
Can I use Greenline on my phone?
Does Greenline support joint accounts or my spouse's accounts?
Joint accounts can be tracked manually today. You can add the holdings under your portfolio, and family or spouse accounts can be tracked from one login.
Native joint-account support with shared visibility is on the roadmap.
Does Greenline track my registered account contribution room (TFSA, RRSP, FHSA)?
Yes. Greenline tracks contribution room for TFSA, RRSP, FHSA, and RDSP based on what you tell us about your eligibility.
We don't pull this from CRA. You confirm your starting room and Greenline tracks contributions over time.
Does Greenline calculate adjusted cost base (ACB)?
Yes. Greenline calculates ACB across all your holdings, including dripped shares, splits, and re-invested distributions, so your capital-gains math is correct at tax time.
Does Greenline work with US brokerages or only Canadian ones?
Greenline is built for Canadian brokerages first (Wealthsimple, Questrade, RBC DI, TD DI, BMO IL, CIBC IE, Scotia iTRADE, NBDB, Qtrade, Disnat, and others).
US brokerage statements can be uploaded as PDFs, but the dashboard's tax tracking and account-type framing are Canadian-specific.
Can Greenline import from my brokerage?
Greenline imports PDF statements, CSV exports, and screenshots from any Canadian brokerage. Some brokerages have verified parsers for faster setup; others use our general AI parser.
Either way, you upload the file. Greenline doesn't connect to your bank.
How does Greenline handle stock splits?
Greenline detects stock splits and adjusts your historical position records automatically, so your cost base, share count, and return calculations stay accurate without manual fixes.
Does Greenline track cryptocurrency?
Yes. You can track crypto holdings in Greenline alongside your equities and ETFs.
Add a crypto asset, log buys, sells, and transfers, and it rolls into your overall allocation and net worth view.
Does Greenline track real estate or alternative investments?
Yes, manually. You can add real estate, private equity, and other alternative holdings to your net worth view.
Greenline doesn't auto-value these, but it tracks them alongside your liquid investments.
Does Greenline send dividend notifications?
Not today. You log dividends as they arrive, and Greenline rolls them into income views and history.
Push notifications for dividends are on the roadmap.
Does Greenline calculate currency-adjusted returns for USD-listed holdings?
Yes. Greenline tracks the FX rate at purchase and at valuation, so your CAD-equivalent return on USD holdings is accurate, not skewed by currency moves.
How often does Greenline update my portfolio prices?
Stock and ETF prices update near real-time during market hours.
Mutual fund prices in Canada don't update on a public feed. Those balances stay where you set them until you log an update.
Daily summaries run at market close.
How long does it take to set up Greenline?
Most users have their first account live in under 5 minutes. Uploading statements for additional accounts takes a minute or two each.
Greenline parses the file, extracts holdings, and you confirm.
Is Greenline a replacement for my brokerage, or do I keep both?
You keep your brokerage. Greenline doesn't execute trades or hold money. It sits on top of every brokerage you use, giving you one dashboard.
You still buy and sell where you always have.
Does Greenline have an API?
Not publicly today. If you have a use case for programmatic access (financial-planning tools, accountant integrations), get in touch. We're prioritizing API access based on demand.
Does Greenline support FX-hedged ETFs or different currency portfolios?
Yes. Greenline tracks holdings in their native currency and converts to your reporting currency.
FX-hedged ETFs (e.g., XSP.TO) are tracked at their listed CAD price.
Security & Privacy
Is Greenline secure?
Yes. Greenline doesn't connect to your bank or brokerage accounts. You upload files manually, and they are encrypted in transit and at rest. Uploaded documents are automatically deleted after 30 days.
